abstract = "This work was developed based on the techniques of remote sensing
and geoprocessing, aiming to delimit the study area, water
courses, preservation permanent areas (PPA), survey of land uses,
hypsometry, slope and the relief type of the headwater of the
C{\'o}rrego Boa Vista microbasin, located in the municipality of
Ipaussu, SP, Brazil. For cartographic elaboration, Quick Bird
satellite images, made available by Google Earth Pro and
topographic map with a scale of 1:50,000. Digital Elevation Model
(DME) was elaborated from data generated by ASTER (Advanced
Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) with use of
Computer applications such as ArcGIS 9.3.1 and 10.3.1 and
Microsoft Office Excel-2007. It was verified that the study area
occupies 453.3 hectares, with preponderance of agricultural and
urban uses. It has an altitudinal variation of 50 meters from the
lowest to highest level. Regarding the areas PPA, it was observed
that about 40% is occupied by infrastructure and buildings (urban
area). The slope of the study area is less than 30% and the
predominant relief is flat and smooth corrugated. By means of the
results obtained, it can be verified that the inadequate
occupation of the PPA may affect the water availability of the
springs in the long term and compromise the water quality of the
water sources of the study area, with emphasis on the municipal
lake Jos{\'e} Nicolau which receives a large part of the upstream
flow, coming from different uses, requiring the public power and
                         the local population conservation practices.",
